The Philips Sonicare HX6511/50 is one of the best-selling sonic toothbrushes on the market. Like an oscillating toothbrush, this brush offers a superior cleaning when compared to a manual toothbrush. The secret is in the sonic technology which actually drives fluid along the gumline and in between the teeth to remove more plaque than a conventional toothbrush.

Philips Sonicare HX6511/50 Review
The Sonicare HX6511/50 uses dynamic cleaning action to push fluid in between the teeth. Not only does the brush remove plaque on the surface of your teeth, but also helps dislodge plaque in between your teeth and along your gumline. We felt the difference in the cleanliness of our teeth after just the first use.
The built-in two-minute timer keeps track of how long you’ve been brushing to ensure that each session lasts two minutes. The brush turns off automatically after two minutes to prevent over-brushing. A quadpacer interval timer is also included, which lets you know when it’s time to move onto the next quadrant of your mouth.
We love the built-in timer because we know that we’re giving our teeth a thorough brushing each and every time.

The reminder bristles are another great feature of this toothbrush. These special bristles gradually fade away to let you know that it’s time to replace your brush head.
When it comes time to replace your brush heads, you’ll have two options to choose from: standard and mini. The mini brush head is great for kids, while the standard brush head is ideal for adults. All brush heads can be used with dental restorations and braces, which means the whole family can enjoy using the HX6511/50.
We also appreciated the long battery life that the HX6511/50 offers. Just one single charge will give you three weeks of use, or approximately 42 two-minute brushing sessions.
- Removes more plaque than a manual toothbrush
- Long battery life
- Can be used with braces and dental restorations
- Can improve gum health in as little as two weeks
- Includes a convenient built-in timer
- Reminder bristles let you know when it’s time to replace brush heads
- Only one cleaning mode available
The only issue we had with this toothbrush was that it only included one cleaning mode. We were expecting it to at least include a sensitive mode. Luckily, the daily cleaning mode did not cause any issues when using it on sensitive teeth.
Overall, we highly recommend the Sonicare HX6511/50. It’s easy to use, provides a deep cleaning and can be used with dental restorations or braces (which is uncommon with most electric toothbrushes).
